Frequently Asked Questions

Do you do commissions/custom paintings?

I take commissions on a case by case basis. Contact me here to ask about availability :)

How much do custom paintings cost?

Between 2 and 3 dollars per square inch, depending on the complexity and material used.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes! There is an additional shipping charge due to the extra care and customs of shipping artwork internationally. Email me the title of the painting(s) you wish to purchase and I’ll calculate the shipping cost for you.

I live in/near Nashville, can I pick up my painting instead of having it shipped?

Sure! If you plan to do this let me know and I’ll deduct the shipping cost from the final price.

What is your refund policy?

Due to the tedious nature of shipping artwork, all sales are final unless the painting was damaged during this shipping. If this happens, let me know and I’ll file a claim with the shipping company in order to process your refund. Thankfully this has never happened thus far :)

Where does the name “Anna The Wiser” come from?

It was a nickname I received during high school that stuck. My last name is “Wise” and I had a reputation of giving people 3x my age life advice :)

Can I order a print of a painting not listed on your site?

I do not make print orders outside of what is listed on my site, reason being that I want to maintain high integrity of the original piece and when I do release limited edition prints, I want them to hold a very high value for the collector :) I do listen to suggestions and sometimes release limited edition prints for in demand paintings - if you want to see a specific painting released as a limited edition print, let me know and I’ll consider it!

How/When did you get started in art?

I’ve been drawing and painting since before I could write - my mom was extremely encouraging, and she would often submit my work into local competitions (I was very shy, and she would’t tell me unless I had won). I have learned lots through trial and error, and have taken a few classes along the way. I first started taking art more seriously when I played in bands and I was called upon to design a few album covers and posters - it was then that I began to pursue art professionally. I’ve been selling and showing my work since 2020.

Why do you paint mostly women?

I am a woman, and I identify best with the female perspective. My paintings are about struggle, rebirth, and empowerment. These are not themes singular to women (roughly half of my collectors are men), but I do paint these themes with a feminine perspective - through the lens of resilience, creativity, and grace.

Are your paintings self portraits?

Yes and no. They are not intended to look like me (I often choose models who look nothing like me), but every painting is a self portrait in the sense that I pour my heart and soul into my work.

To elaborate further, my paintings are not supposed to be of famous people or pop culture icons - rather, they are supposed to give humanity and identity to an emotion, or a season/chapter in life. I intentionally choose to paint women with a somewhat universal appearance so that the viewer can identify with them and find their own story within the painting.

How do you ship large paintings?

With large paintings, the safest and most economical way to ship is to remove the canvas from the wood bars they are stretched on and roll them up for shipping. Shipping a large piece can cost thousands of dollars and there’s a strong risk of damage. Removing the canvas from framing all but eliminates the chance of the painting getting damaged during shipping, and costs a small fraction of the price. You can have the canvas re stretched at a framing shop for a small fee :) And while you’re having it re stretched, you can choose a frame, if that suits your vibe and taste. It’s definitely the cheapest and safest way to deliver large paintings!
